Everything You Need to Know About Going Live on Workday

Published On: March 18th, 20221.9 min read

You've worked hard for months – there's been effort from across your organization, all hands on deck from your team, and many hours (and dollars) spent in collaboration with your deployment partner and now you're finally live on . Hurray! All done!

Right?

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately…

No.

Going live is actually just the beginning, and after all the hard work to get your company live on , taking a “set it and forget it” approach will create some problems down the line. Instead, stay closely connected in the early days. Critical areas to be aware of and focused on include:

Stabilization

During the first months after go live, it is highly challenging to change configuration or implement new functionality. Focusing on what deployment and functional areas you have at go live is key. Be comfortable with prioritization – you can triage urgent issues and note desired changes for when you and your team are comfortable within your Workday tenant.

Knowledge Transfer

Your deployment partner likely trained you on how to use your Workday tenant and now it is up to you to teach your colleagues. Prioritize widespread knowledge among your team by sharing how the system works, how to address potential issues, and ensuring there are no “gatekeepers” with business critical knowledge of Workday limited to them/their department.

Workday Updates

Workday provides bi-annual system updates that change and improve functionality. While not all of these changes may impact your organization, it is very important to keep apprised of what these changes are to ensure you do not adversely impact your internal processes.

Workday Community

The depth of knowledge and information available on Workday's proprietary resource site can answer virtually any question you may have and gives you the forum to ask any questions you have. We highly recommend being familiar with Community; checking it regularly will help you succeed.

ERPA is Here to Help

Of course, the above is not a comprehensive list and you may decide that your team's bandwidth is better directed elsewhere. If you're looking for help, whether immediately after go-live or after you've been on Workday for a while, please fill out the form below. We'd love to talk with you!
